Jim Guida, PG

Director of Water Resources & Planning

Jim Guida joined the Authority in 2022 and serves as the Authority’s Director of Water Resources & Planning.  Prior to joining the Authority as an employee, he worked closely with the Authority in both a public and private sector capacity for 27 years.  

Jim has 37 years of private and public sector water resource experience including hydrogeology, regulatory permitting, water supply planning, development and management. He was previously employed with the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) for over two decades. While with the SWFWMD he served for 11 years as the Director of the SWFWMD’s Sarasota Service Office, where he directed all regulatory permitting, compliance and enforcement activities, and participated in the development of the Southern Water Use Caution Area (SWUCA) Recovery Strategy and Water Use Permitting Rules.  Thereafter, Jim was a co-owner and Principal of a Sarasota-based water resource consulting firm serving private and public sector clients in navigating the technical, regulatory and policy aspects of water supply planning, permitting, development, and management.

Mr. Guida has a B.S. degree in Geology from the University of South Florida and is a Florida-registered Professional Geologist.
